Demoledor debut del power-trio californià Blue Cheer, molt allunyats dels seus contemporanis amics hippies. Guitarra feridora i distorsionada, i una base rítmica aclaparadora van fer que aquest grup fos l'escollit per iniciar una nova corrent musical que acabaria essent la creadora del heavy.
A destacar la versió del Summertime Blues de Cochran, on van incloure el riff de Foxy Lady de Hendrix, potser la seva major influencia juntament amb Cream i Steppenwolf.

The Storm foren un grup sevillà (si, si, sevillà de Sevilla, Andalusia) de hard rock progressiu amb clares influences de Deep Purple y el conegut so d'orgue Hammond. Van publicar dos Lp's, aquest que us presento avui y anys després "El día de la Tormenta". El segon no he tingut l'oportunitat d'escoltar-lo, però pel que he anat llegint no te cap de les virtuts del primer. Al del 1974 podem trobar temes instrumentals com "Un señor llamado Fernández de Córdoba", "Crazy Machine" o "Experiencia sin órgano" realment fantástics; costa creure que an aquells añs un grup español sonés com l'apisonadora que es Storm. Els temes cantats també tenen molt d'interès, sonen força a Purple o a Atomic Rooster, gràcies al so Hammond tan característic a finals dels 60's i a principis dels 70's. "I am busy" o "Woman mine" per posar dos exemples, són temes demoledors. Com a curiositat, si us baixeu el disc, podreu observar el rudimentari anglés del grup. Però per a ser temps de dictadura, s'ha de reconèixer el mèrit que van tenir tots els grups, andalussos i catalans sobretot, per practicar el rock progressiu, ja que van aconseguir ser un refernet en el hard-prog-rock europeu. I ho seguiexen sent, i si no viatgeu a Amsterdam a visitar botigues de música, veureu la bona consideració que tenen de bandes com Storm, Màquina! o Cai.

Tant que haviem anunciat el programa de demà, i resulta que fallarem. El Pepe C. té un compromís matiner i no hi podrà ser i jo sol no m'aclariré amb els controls. Així que ara em toca fer una ràpida selecció de temes per omplir l'hora i mitja de demà.
La setmana que vé esperem poder col·locar-vos el primer volum del set de versions del white album que us haviem anunciat l'últim programa.

Blue Cheer - Blue Cheer (1969)

Quart disc d'una de les bandes precursores del heavy. Molt influenciats per la Jimi Hendrix Experience, aquest grup de San Francisco va estar en actiu del 68 al 71 fins que es van separar pels continus canvis a la formació. Però al 84, dos membres de la formació original, Dickie Peterson (baix i veus), Paul Whaley (bateria), juntament amb el guitarra Tony Rainer van decidir tornar als escenaris.
